Q: How does the contest work?
 

A: We host the Dream Quest One Poetry and Writing Contest to inspire and encourage new and experienced literary artists to submit their short stories and poetry to be recognized worldwide.  We welcome you to share your hopes, aspirations and dreams of being published and to continue being successful poets and writers. Creativity, imagination, innovation and the ability to dream is an inspiration to others, even if you have no experience in poetry or writing. This contest is held semi-annually.

 


Q: What prizes can I win?

 

A: There are three poetry prizes and three writing prizes totaling $1275.00. You can win up to $250.00 for writing a 1st Prize poem and win up to $500.00 for writing a 1st Prize winning short story.

 

 

Q: When is the deadline for the current Dream Quest One Poetry Contest & Writing Contest - SUMMER 2020?

 

A: The postmarked deadline to submit all electronic entries and postal mail-in entries into our current SUMMER 2020 Contest is AUGUST 15, 2020. All entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM, Pacific Standard Time (PST). We are now accepting poems and short story entries. Enter Now! for a chance to win cash prizes totaling $1275.00!

 

 

Q: When will the current WINTER 2019 - 2020 Poetry Contest & Writing Contest winners published?

 

A: Our SUMMER 2020 Contest winners notification and publication date will be on October 18, 2020 at 9:00 PM, Pacific Standard Time (PST). All Poetry Contest and Writing Contest winners will be published in our Dare to Dream pages.

 

 

Q: When was the deadline for the previous Dream Quest One Poetry & Writing Contest - Winter 2019 - 2020?

 

A: The postmarked deadline to submit all electronic entries and postal mail-in entries into our previous Winter 2019 - 2020 Contest was extended from December 28, 2019 at 11:59 PM, Pacific Standard Time (PST). 

 

 

Q: When will you publish all of the previous Winter 2019 - 2020 Poetry Contest & Writing Contest winners?

 

 A: Our previous Winter 2019 - 2020 Contest winners' notification and publication date will be February 29, 2020 at 9:00 PM, Pacific Standard Time (PST). It won't be long so stay tuned to Dream Quest One!

 

 
Q: Are previously published poems and short stories allowed to enter the poetry and writing contests? 

 

A: Yes, you may enter previously published poems and short stories. All are absolutely welcome as long as they are original works created by the contest entrant(s) whether individual or collaborated works.

 

 

Q: Does the "title" of my poem and/or short story count as a line?

 

A: No, the titles for all poems and short stories do not count as lines.

 

 

Q: Is there a "word count" for short stories entered in this competition?

 

A: There is "NO WORD COUNT" for short stories entering in the Dream Quest One Writing Contest. However, all short stories must be neatly hand printed or legibly typed out, using 5 pages or fewer, on any subject or theme. All stories may be written in any genre including fiction, nonfiction, or creative nonfiction.

 

Q: May I submit an edited revision of my poem or short story?

 

A: Yes, you may edit and submit a revised copy of your poem(s) and/or short story(ies) before the postmarked deadline for each contest.


Q: How do I enter the contest by mail?

 

A: Send an original poem, 30 lines or fewer, on any subject or theme, in any style or form, neatly hand printed or legibly typed, using single or double line spacing. Remember, the title(s) of your poem(s) do not count as lines. There is no word count. Submit each short story, (5) pages maximum length, on any subject, any theme, neatly hand printed or legibly typed, using single or double line spacing.  The entry fee is $5.00(USD) per poem. The entry fee is $10.00(USD) per story.  Make your entry fee(s) payable to: "DREAMQUESTONE.COM," and mail your, entry fee(s), poem(s) and/or short story(ies) to the following mailing address:
