"The Aging Process"

In your twenties you came to find

a body you start to hate.

No matter that your curves stay high,

your breasts stay firm; legs go till nigh,

and still you loath. But pay no mind...

‘Twas your smile that made you great

And someone will still think you’re beautiful!

In your forties, you’ll come to find

a body that makes you tired.

Curves that drop and lines that lower.

Added weight that makes you slower.

You’ll be sad, but I will remind—

‘Twas your smile that I desired.

And someone will still think you’re beautiful!

In your sixties, you’ll come to find

a body you may not know.

New lines. Some wrinkles.

A fold for all the stories life can hold.

You’ll be down, but please don’t be blind—

Twas your smile that stole the show.

And someone will still think you’re beautiful!

In your eighties, you’ll come to find

a body aching to be free.

Bones are brittle, hair is flat.

Not ‘nuff weight to even be fat.

If you feel lost, keep this in mind—

It’s still your smile...all would agree.

And someone will still think you’re beautiful!

And that someone is me.
